• 2 cups ketchup
• 1/4 cup cider vinegar
• 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
• 1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
• 2 tablespoons molasses
• 2 tablespoons prepared yellow mustard
• 1 tablespoon Tabasco sauce
• 1 tablespoon of your favorite barbecue rub
• 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Procedures

1. Combine all of the ingredients in a nonreactive saucepan and slowly bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce the heat to medium-low and gently simmer until dark, thick, and richly flavored, 10 to 15 minutes. Transfer the sauce to a clean jar and store in the refrigerator. It will keep for several months.

1/2 onion, minced

4 cloves garlic, minced

3/4 c. Whiskey Sister Bourbon Whiskey

1/2 tsp. ground black pepper

1/2 tbsn. salt

2 c. ketchup

1/4 c. tomato paste

1/3 c. cider vinegar

2 tbsn. liquid smoke flavoring

1/4 c. Worcestershire sauce

1/2 c. packed brown sugar

1/3 tsp. hot sauce (or to taste)

Directions:

1. In a large skillet over medium heat, combine onion, garlic, and whiskey. Simmer 10 minutes, or until onion is translucent. Mix in ground black pepper, salt, ketchup, tomato paste, vinegar, liquid smoke, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, and hot sauce.
2. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer for 20 minutes. Run sauce through a strainer if you prefer a smooth sauce.
